AI and Indian Education System
GS Paper II (Education & Governance), GS Paper III (Science & Tech)
Context: Ministry of Education is crafting a comprehensive framework to weave AI learning through the entire K-12 tapestry
(kindergarten to class 12).
National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 stresses 21st-century skills, digital literacy, and AI-driven learning. India has over 1 crore teachers. Around 10,000 trained since 2019.
Key challenges:
- Digital literacy gaps among teachers.
- Infrastructure disparities (rural-urban divide).
- Need for pedagogy redesign.
Mains practice Question
Q1. “Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into school education is a transformative step towards inclusive and quality learning, but it also raises challenges of preparedness, equity, and ethics.” Discuss.
US – China G2
GS Paper II (International Relations)
Context: As a result of recent U.S.–China summit in Busan, U.S. has reduced tariffs on China to 47%, making India and Brazil, at 50%, among the countries with the highest tariffs.
Strategic concerns for India:
- Undermine India’s position in the Indo-Pacific and Quad initiatives (India–U.S.–Japan–Australia).
- Signal a return to bipolar or dual-hegemony politics (U.S.–China duopoly), counter to India’s preference for a multi-polar world order.
- Symbolic G-2 Revival: Both leaders (US and China) speak of “joint global responsibility”. This challenge India’s aspiration for greater global influence and strategic autonomy.
Way forward:
India’s response should be:
- Reaffirm Multi-Polar Vision: Continue advocacy for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
- Strengthen Quad and Other Partnerships: Deepen ties with Japan, Australia, ASEAN, and EU.
- Enhance Strategic Autonomy: Pursue independent diplomacy avoiding binary alignments.
- Economic Reforms: Attract supply chains moving out of China; become a resilient manufacturing hub.
- Engage Both Powers: Maintain pragmatic bilateral relations with U.S. and China while safeguarding sovereignty.
Mains practice Question
Q1. “The revival of a possible U.S.–China G-2 framework could reshape the global order and impact India’s strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific.” Discuss.
